Real Talk, Real Faith: Sharing Across Generations
Weekend away for women and girls
The Great Engagement is the perfect opportunity to do just that – engage with each other and what God is doing in our lives in amongst His beautiful creation. A chance to be active or to rest – whatever you need. No meals to cook, no emails to answer, no one to be but yourself.
Friday evening 27th March to Sunday lunch 29th March.
Chaldercot – Rathane Road Royal National Park
Register by 13 March – limited places available
Location
- A converted historic homestead, Chaldercot’s large, covered verandah looks out over the pristine Port Hacking River (and is great for summer dining!).
- Chaldercot is a conference site on The Youthworks site at Port Hacking and has all the things that make a weekend away pretty easy and fun. Rooms with a range of bed types (bunks, not bunks), bathrooms, catering, meeting rooms, sunny decks, a pool, a grassy lawn, parking, wifi, etc.
- Directions: A few different ways to get there (Sutherland/Waterfall/Otford), some more scenic than others, all under an hour from Austi. Map Apps are your friend.
- Note: Audley Weir is subject to flooding. There’s usually road signage if the road is closed. Enter by McKell Avenue, Waterfall or from the south through Otford in the case of flooding.
Food
- We’ve chosen the fully catered option because it was very reasonable (+$40) and means we/you don’t have to cook.
- Costs include all catering (supper Friday night, breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper on Saturday, and breakfast, morning tea and lunch Sunday).
- Gluten free? Vego? Allergies? Please let us know when you register so Youthworks can make arrangements.
- Friday dinner: grab that on the road or before you leave. Supper will be available when you arrive (ie fruit and cake or similar)
Cost
- Full time cost varies from $0 for preschool aged up to $220 for adults.
- If cost is an issue, we still want you to come. Please just note when you register that you will require a subsidy and Megan in the church office will organise that with you.
- We will include an option on the registration form where you can offer to support someone else coming by contributing additional funds.

Preparation
This year, based on your feedback, the weekend is designed to get to know one another better and have honest conversations about following Jesus.
We are intentionally creating space through structured sessions to cross generations—allowing the younger and the seasoned to hear from one another under the guidance of God’s Word and grace.
Come ready to share your heart. In our small, mixed-age groups, we invite you to bring a piece of your journey to the table. This might look like:
- A brief reflection on your walk with Jesus.
- A verse that has become an anchor for you.
- Something God is currently teaching you.
- An encouragement (or a hard-won lesson) from your current season.
FAQs
- Can I come part time? Yes, but we’d rather you came full time 😊
- Can I get a lift? Sure, carpooling is good for you and the environment. Chat to someone else who’s going to arrange, alternately note it when you register and we will sort it out.
- Is it a mother and daughter camp? No it’s a camp for females. Some people are related and some aren’t. We’re all sisters in Christ, that’s what matters.
- Is there child supervision? Parents are responsible for supervising their own kids. This is especially important around fire and water. One key aim of the weekend is to build cross generational relationships so we’re aiming for all ages to be able to participate. If you have a very little child and you’re wondering how that will work, please note that when you register.
If your daughter would love to come but you can’t make it you’re welcome to send her with a trusted adult for the weekend, just line it up in advance and let us know. - When’s the latest I can register? Thursday 12th March
- Can I bring alcohol? Technically yes but we need pre-approval and there are conditions. See Youthworks FAQs….Probably simpler not to.
- Can I bring technology? You might want to take a few photos or need to stay in touch with home, but feel free to take a digital detox.
- What’s the age range? No minimum, no maximum
- What will we be doing? There will be three sessions that are all in for everybody, then a range of other organised things that people can opt into if they want. They include Yoga/pilates; bushwalking; swimming in the pool; watercolour class. On top of that there’s lots of options for relaxing, games etc that you’re welcome to drive yourself. We’ll make a program available as soon as it is finalised.
- Can I help? For sure, contact Liz McCoy phone 0401 446 067 or email she’ll give you a job.
